He was predeceased by: his parents, Catherine Smith and Donald Shockley; his wife Lorene Shockley; and his siblings, Donald Lee Shockley, Margaret Scarberry, Juanita Raines and Alice Christian.
He is survived by: his children, Earlene Pennington (James) of Huntington, WV and Earl "Joe" Shockley (Patti) of Tennessee; and his siblings, David Shockley of South Point and Faye Hysell of Chesapeake. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.
