He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Ely and Ruby Ely. He is survived by: his wife Phyllis McMillion Ely; his daughter Tamara Fugate; his stepchildren, Julie Stamper-Hazelett (Amy) and David Stamper Jr. (Teffany); and his siblings, Macel Ely (Carol), Luckie Ely (Sherrie) and Belinda Ely. He is also survived by three grandchildren; four great grandchildren.
