He is survived by: his wife Nancy Mathis (Burkett); his children, William R. Mathis (Hollie) and Tami J. Cieplinski; his grandchildren, David S. Cieplinski, William C. Mathis, Amber M. Cieplinski and Jennifer L. Cieplinski; and his sisters, Jane Woodburn, Mary Priest and Kathy Whittaker. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
