He was predeceased by : his father Curtis Ray; his wife Starling; and his siblings, Giles, Larry Gibson, Elma Ruth Hinton, Starling Andrews, Christine Shrout, Lois Ann Plikard, Norma Jean Painter and Carol Lee Hart.

He is survived by : his children, Roger Gibson (Karen), Kenton, Russell Gibson, Marion, Calvin Gibson and Wanda Dresback (Tod); his grandchildren, Jennifer Patterson (Brian), Keith Gibson (Angie), Conrad Gibson, Thelma Knapp (Mike), Angela Thomas (Heather), Christopher Gibson (Emily), Bobby Gibson, Kyle Dresback and Bethany Dresback; and his sister-in-law Betty Tevis (Dick). He is also survived by seventeen great-grandchildren; three great great grandchildren.
