He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert William and Florine Joanna Schmelzer (Mathys); his wife Sharon Faye Schmelzer (Riley); and his siblings-in-law, Harold Blanton, Richard, Jennie Riley, Robert, Wanda Long (Riley), Joseph, Hazel Temple (Riley), Edwin, Nina Whitt (Riley) and Rebecca Thompson (Riley).
He is survived by: his sons, Michael Allen Schmelzer (Rhonda) of Richwood and Kevin Eugene Schmelzer (Lovetta) of Marion; his grandchildren, Ashley Schmelzer, Shaynna Butcher (David), Paul Schmelzer, Pamela Schmelzer (John Neidhart), Jaron Schmelzer (Janna) and Chelsey Jones (Nate); his great grandchildren, Andrew Hodges, Tucker Hodges, Preston Schmelzer, Gabriel Schmelzer, Riley Jones, Aaden Krohmer, Avery Jones, Emery Jones, Samantha Butcher and Jonah Jones; his sister JoNeil Schmelzer of Richwood; his brother-in-law Brent Thompson; and his close friend Penny.
During covid Bob began attending Heritage Bible Church.
