He was predeceased by : his parents, Merrill I. Steward and Mae E. Steward (Marchant); his wife Gretchen (Andrews); his daughter Cindy Tyson; his sisters, Joyce Fanning and Judy Sattler; and his nephew Troy Sattler.

He is survived by : his children, Holly Steward (Terry Matthews) and Doug Steward; his son-in-law Terry Tyson; and his grandchildren, Lauren Coe, Alex Tyson, Hannah Tyson, Jessica Steward and Jamie Steward-Madai (Eddie). He is also survived by four great-grandchildren.
