It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Merdella M. Schwieterman of Saint Henry, Ohio, who passed away on March 18, 2023, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by : her parents, Urban Borger and Thresia Borger (Uhlenhake); her husband Cyril "Cy" Schwieterman; her daughter Connie Post (Ken Post); her sons-in-law, Greg Moran and Mike Myers; her brothers, Bob (Rita Borger), Carl (Ethel Borger) and Mel Borger; and her siblings-in-law, Alvera Clericus, Arnold, Luella Schwieterman, Louis Schwieterman, Matthew, Coletta Schwieterman, Norbert, Cordula Schmitz, Rita, Ronald Wannemacher, Helen, Cletus Schmitz, Ivo and Mary Ann Schwieterman.

She is survived by : her children, Mert, Mike (Linda) of Arcanum, Jerry (Marcia) of Troy, Dave (Carol) of Wapakoneta, Bob (Carol) of Castle Pines, Colorado, Joyce Gerlach (Ken) of St. Henry, Sheri Roddy (Mike) of West Carrollton, Barb Abels (Larry) of Englewood, Jane Moran of Columbus, Sandy Bruns (Jeff) of Germantown, Cindy Wu (Vinnie) of Milford and Mary Beth Zimmer of Cincinnati; and her sister-in-law Esther Borger of Coldwater. She is also survived by 31 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Activity Fund at The Gardens at St. Henry or EverHeart Hospice in Greenville.

“My brothers and I all express our sympathy and condolences to the Schwieterman family for their loss. Our Mother (Irene (Borger) Eckstein, spoke often with admiration for her cousin Mert and considered her a great friend as well. She will no doubt be missed by the large family she leaves, loved and influenced.
