She was predeceased by: her parents, Otah Wright and Margaret Wright (Koenig); her former husband James Shelby; her husband Earl Mears; her son Mark Shelby; and her siblings, Etta "Sis" Skinner (Lester), Margarite Wright, Don Wright (Opal), George Wright (Gladys) and Wilma "Willie" Shelby (Tom).
She is survived by: her children, Patrick Shelby (Sheila) of Gahanna, Ohio, Chris Shelby Metz of Minster and Connie Shelby Miller of Alexandria, Virginia; her daughter-in-law Donna Shelby of New Knoxville; her stepdaughters, Dixie Davies (Bill) of Seneca and Debbie Wenning (Adrian) of Somerset, Kentucky.; and her grandchildren, Michael Shelby (Katie), David Shelby (Erin), Jeff Metz, Nathan Metz, Mindy Miller Burts (Charlie), Shaun Miller, Margaret Shelby McMichael (Scott) and Steven Shelby (Emily). She is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home (314 W High St, St Marys, OH 45885). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
