He was predeceased by: his father John Hughes Sr.; and his former wife Toni Lee Hughes. He is survived by: his mother Betty Hughes (Wilson); his wife Kay Hughes (Green); his children, Shane Hughes (Brandie), Doug Juhasz (Christina), Isaac Ieropoli (Kate), Danielle Robinette (Jerry) and Theressa Navarra (Stephen); his grandchildren, Jeffrey Juhasz (Bri), Allison McGinnis (Alex), Deven, Noah Martin, Gwendolyn, Aurora Ieropoli and Natalie Navarra; his siblings, John Hughes Jr. (Dianne), Kathy Miller (Dennis) and Rodney Hughes Sr. (Peggy); Whitney McGinnis. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 18th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen Funeral (1617 E State St, Salem, OH 44460). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services (1617 E State St, Salem, OH 44460).
