He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde D. Hoops and Jean Hoops (King); his nephews, Nick Scheetz and Jeremiah Harder; and his niece Cheri Hoops.

He is survived by: his siblings, David Hoops, Debbie Jorgenson, Cheri Brill (Mike), Mariann Menter (Phil), Mike Hoops (Diane), Sue Mead (Eugene) and Patti Scheetz (Mike).
