He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Carl and Mary Safreed (Shaffer); and his brothers, Jeff Carl, Ronald Carl and Dick Carl.

He is survived by: his pet Holly; his sister Linda Baddeley (Barry); his stepbrother Chad McLaughlin of Dallas, TX; and his half-brother Steven Carl of Streater, IL. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
