With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of James R. DeHenning of Sandusky, Ohio, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 6, 2025 at the age of 86. He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold DeHenning and Gertrude DeHenning (McCloskey); and his siblings, Beverly Perrine, Betty Rice and Harold DeHenning.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce DeHenning (Zoellner); his daughters, Melissa Friend (John), Marcie Klein and Cristy Deerwester (Jayson); his grandchildren, Justin Friend, Heather Holybee (Alexander), Stefanie Friend, Brittany Wright (Joshua), Steven Slocum (Alyssa), Alicia Carpenter (Tyler) and David Miller (Jessica); and his sisters, Audrey Lippert (late Ike), Patricia Wilson (late John) and Chris Nelson (Mark). He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren and special nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 9th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory (1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky, OH 44870). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 10th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Calvary Baptist Church (1810 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky, OH 44870).
