He was predeceased by: his parents, James Clay "Jay" and Billie Jean Cody (Bennett); his brother J. C. Monroe "Butch" Cody; his nieces, Sara Ernst, Kristen Cody and Angel Hoelzer; and his brother-in-law Billy Mason.

He is survived by: his children, Brandy Whelan and Joshua Cody; his grandchildren, Elle, Rylee, Clare Whelan, Madison and Everlee Cody; and his siblings, Catherine "Cathy" Wilson, Debra Ernst (Jim), Jennifer Cody, Robin Cody (Ken Morelli) and Ed Cody. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in his memory to one's favorite charity.
