He was predeceased by: his wife Carol Barnes (Sessler); his parents, Max Barnes and Esther Barnes (Glum); his great grandchild Conner Miller; his siblings, Ruthann Crawford, Nancy Bechtel and Robert Barnes; his grandson-in-law Joe Miller; and his brothers-in-law, Robert Sessler (Nancy), Curtis Sessler and Robert Bertsch.

He is survived by: his children, Kathy Barnes and Tom Barnes (Becky); his grandchildren, Jena Miller and Bradley Barnes; his great grandchildren, Haley Miller, Wesley Miller, Lincoln Barnes and Elena Barnes; and his sisters-in-law, Alice Bertsch and Donna Sessler. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
