He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Hummel and Elsie Hummel (Riedy). He is survived by: his daughters, Lori Kaliszewski (Tom) of Michigan and Lynn Garrity (Matthew) of Massachusetts; his grandchildren, Thomas, Lauren, Megan and Meredith; and his brother Charles. He is also survived by nephew and two nieces.
