He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul E. Ruthsatz and Clara Ruthsatz (Chill); his wife Ruth A. Ruthsatz (Samstag); his son Jeff Michael Ruthsatz; his brother Julian P. "Jim" Ruthsatz; and his sister-in-law Geraldine A. "Gerri" Ruthsatz.
He is survived by: his daughter Vicki Gill (Jerry) of Huron; his grandchildren, Bryan Gill, Brandon Gill (Kelly) and Brittan Gill (Jillian) of Sandusky; his daughter Sandi Domanski (Ken) of Sandusky; his granddaughters, Kendra Novotny (Dave) of Lakewood and Jenna DeMastes (Jason) of Lexington, Kentucky; his children, Kathi Ruthsatz of Sandusky and Steve Ruthsatz (Kerry) of Sandusky; his grandson Brett Whitfield of Kennesaw, Georgia; his son Scott Ruthsatz (Jessica) of Dublin; his grandchildren, Nick Ruthsatz (Courtney) of Englewood, Aiden Ruthsatz of Columbus, Madelyn Rein (Clayton) of Columbus, Marina Ruthsatz, Nolan Ruthsatz, Aaron Ruthsatz and Colleen Ruthsatz of Dublin; his great grandchildren, Brock, Brayden, Austin, Adrianna and Brylie Gill; and his children, Maple, Ivy Novotny, Faye, Edison, Opal DeMastes and Audra Rein. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, October 18th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory (1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky, OH 44870). A prayer was held on Monday, October 19th 2026 at 9:30 AM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, October 19th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the St. Mary's Catholic Church (429 Central Ave, Sandusky, OH 44870).
