She was predeceased by: her parents, Chester J. Polta and Grace H. Polta (Schwochow); her husband Robert "Bob" McDowell Jr.; and her sisters, Betty Thompson (Gurtz), Irene Pitzer (Gurtz) and Marie Polta.
She is survived by: her children, William "Rob" McDowell (Becky) of Naperville, IL and Jan Marie (Matt); her grandchildren, Abbygail, Olivia, Braxton, Ethan, Hailey, Madeline and Penelope; and her sister Martha Ebner (Polta) of Sandusky. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, May 14th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the David F. Koch Funeral & Cremation Services (520 Columbus Ave, Sandusky, OH 44870). A funeral service was held on Friday, May 15th 2026 at 9:30 AM at the same location.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to the Humane Society of Erie County, 1911 Superior Street, Sandusky, OH 44870.
