He was predeceased by: his parents, Calvin Schoonover and Dessie Barth Schoonover; his wife Faye Ann Schoonover; and his siblings, Clarence "Tuck" Schoonover, Betty Huffman and Marjorie Potts.

He is survived by: his sons, Mike Schoonover (Cathy) and Ronnie Schoonover (Tammy Minor); his granddaughter Jessica Schoonover; his siblings, Donald Lee Schoonover (Patty), Shirley O'Neil-Snider, Laura Kay Greathouse and Patsy Thompson (Bill); his brother-in-law Charles "Scott" Loy; and his close friend Donnie Cameron.

Visitation was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Homes (1224 S Bridge St, New Martinsville, WV 26155). A funeral service was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home - New Martinsville (1224 S Bridge St, New Martinsville, WV 26155).
