He was predeceased by: his parents, Wesley Dawson and Emma Dawson (Dietzel); his wife Nanette McMahan; and his brothers, Wesley Dawson and Donald Dawson.
He is survived by: his daughter Janice C.; his son-in-law Rev. Jay Wolin of Sarasota, FL; his son Richard C. Dawson of Dunnellen, FL; and his grandchildren, Olivia, Will and Kyle. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
