She was predeceased by : her parents, Orville Gibson and Gerldine Gibson (Barker); her former life partner James H. Johnson; her husband William H. Mercer; and her siblings, Shelva Lilly, Orvalene Price and Charles Gibson.

She is survived by : her children, Michael R. Johnson (Debbie) of Elyria, Sharon K. Irvin (Claude) of West Virginia, James P. Johnson of Sebring and Danny L. Johnson of Sebring; and her siblings, Linda Allen (Ronald), Mary Colgrove (Ed), Roger Gibson (Barbara), Homer Gibson (Louetta), Jack Gibson (Brenda) and Bernard Gibson (Brenda). She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
