He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Smithberger and Imogene Smithberger (Bowman); his brother Ron Smithberger; and his in-laws, Kenneth and Lillian Rupp.
He is survived by: his wife Jean Smithberger (Rupp); his children, Carrie Stoner (Eric), Tricia Hibler (Nate) and David Smithberger (Shawna); his grandchildren, Matthew, Scott, Alyssa Stoner, Andrew, Emma Hibler, Braylon, Layla and Ava Smithberger; his siblings, Janet Whitmore (Bill) and Dennis Smithberger (Barb); and his siblings-in-law, Kathy Hastings, Kate Walley, Mary Rupp, Rick Garrison (Kathy) and Ken Rupp (Carol). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
