He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Piper and Jessie Piper; his son David Piper; and his siblings, Cordell, Wilma, Maynard and Eldon Piper.

He is survived by: his wife Joan; his sons, Scott (Veronica) and Mark (Michelle); his grandchildren, Ryan, Shelby (Shane), Grant, Colin and Jaime; his stepgrandchildren, Kristin (Pete), James (Elizabeth), Nicholas (Shannon) and Anthony; and his great grandchildren, Annie, Jade and Ryan. He is also survived by 11 step-great-grandchildren.
