He was predeceased by: his brother Thomas. He is survived by: his wife Janet; his children, Christopher (Katharine Norman), Jennifer and Matthew (Lauren); his brother Steven (Marget); and his grandchildren, William, Kathryn, Caroline, Henry, Talia and River.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 4th 2025 at 5:00 PM at the Cleveland Skating Club (2500 Kemper Rd, Shaker Heights, OH 44120). He enjoyed the fraternity of his fellow sergeants and engaging in their (sometimes) humorous banter, and reprimanding those who did not follow his RSVP protocol for the Grand Assize.
Byron's family encourages contributions in his honor to be directed toward Ohio End of Life Options, which advocates on behalf of terminally ill patients, or Adaptive Sports Ohio, which works to remove barriers to participation in sports for individuals with physical disabilities.
