He was predeceased by: his wife Betty Jane Downie (Bekeny); his parents, Katherine Connelly Downie Teare and William Downie, Jr.; and his sisters, Louise Downie Gork and Mary Katherine Downie.
He is survived by: his brother Lawrence Connelly Downie (Yvonne) of Charleston, SC; his daughters, Susan Downie Wheeler of Shaker Heights and Karen Downie Dickson (John) of Willoughby; and his granddaughters, Chloe Elysabeth Wheeler of Richmond, Virginia and Katherine Grace Wheeler of Jacksonville. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
