He was predeceased by: his parents, Rodney F. Owens and Dorothy J. Owens (Durbin); his grandson Nicholas Owens; his brother Barton "Butch" Owens; his niece Jaimi Smith; and his parents-in-law, Jack and Pauline Gardner.
He is survived by: his wife Diane Owens (Gardner); his sons, Eric Owens of Columbus and Chad Owens of Shelby, Ohio; his grandchildren, Kaeleigh Buccione (Tyler), Bronson Owens (Ashley) and Nathan Owens; his great grandchildren, Sophie, Enzo, Greyson and Blakelyn; his sister Vicki K. Keefer (Dennis); and his siblings-in-law, Louise Owens, Jackie Smith and Jon Gardner (Theresa). He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
