He was predeceased by: his parents, Arlen Phipps and Addie Phipps (Montgomery); his wife Justina Isaac; his son Dennis; his daughter-in-law Vicky Phipps; and his siblings, Sadie Caudill, Alkie Russell, Selvinleene Conley and Clayton Phipps.
He is survived by: his daughters, Vicky Sakala (Paul) of Lexington and Carolyn Cook (John) of Perrysville; his grandchildren, Shane Cook (Heidi) of Perrysville, Gregg Phipps (Donna) of Salyersville, KY and Dawn Gottron; his great grandchild Scott Phipps of Salyersville, KY; his great great grandchildren, Nathan and Gabe Phipps of Salyersville, KY.; and his siblings, Layton Phipps (Naomi) of Cincinnati, Thomas Phipps of Salyersville, KY, Emarie Sudduth of Ashland, OH, Delana Castle of Tennessee and Barbara Gamble (Kermit) of Kentucky. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made at the funeral home to New Hope Academy, a small Christian school that his two great-grandsons Nathan and Gabe Phipps attend, P.O. Box 270, Staffordsville, KY 41256.
