He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil Ward and Ethel Ward (Baker); his in-laws, Ada (Hayes) and Melvin Tarlton; his sister Patricia; and his brother-in-law Richard Winter.

He is survived by: his wife Carol Ward (Tarlton).

Years ago, he decided to donate his body for medical research after his passing with The Ohio State School of Medicine.
