He is survived by: his parents, Richard O. Slaughter and Emma Joyce Slaughter (Minton); his fiancée Pamela Peters; his children, Arielle E. Slaughter of Tampa, FL and Richard W. Slaughter of Tucson, AZ.; and his sisters, Leslie J. Haynes (Butch) of Wooster, OH, MaryBeth Wright of Newark, OH and Lori L. Edwards of Newark, OH. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

“Mark and my husband, joe, were military musicians at wpafb in the 80s. Years later, when we returned to dayton, joe and mark reconnected, and then we'd all see each other occasionally at festivals and around the area. Mark always had the best welcoming smile. It will soon be time for the hummingbirds to be back in the area, and i will hang my blackwater workshops feeder once again and remember mark every time i see it. Our deepest sympathies to mark's sweet pam and his family.”
