Florence Jean Shinkle Obituary

We are sad to announce that on March 18, 2024, at the age of 95, Florence Jean Shinkle of Springfield, Ohio, born in Paintsville, Kentucky passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by : her parents, Irvin Salyer and Zelda Salyer (Murray); her husband Joseph Shinkle; her son-in-law Noah T. Mills; and her siblings, Cornell, Bertell, Lorena, Odessa, Chadwick, Willard and Okadell.

She is survived by : her daughters, Sheila Schetter (Daniel), Cheryl Skinner (John Sr.) and Paula Dillon; and her grandchildren, Christina Albright (Brandon), Kyle Schetter (Jennifer), Michelle Blevins (Mills), John Skinner Jr. (Alexa), Nick Dillon and Kathleen Douthy (David). She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Clark Memorial Home for Women, 106 Kewbury Rd. Springfield, OH 45504 or the Dementia Association (https://www.dementiasociety.org) in Florence's honor.

“When someone close to us passes on to the great beyond, the scripture from Psalm 34:18, comes to mind, “The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” I pray for Aunt Florence as she makes that journey and also for those who are still here on earth that solitude and happiness can be gained knowing that the lord is close.
