Though James may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those James touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was predeceased by: his parents, George Howard and Sallie Howard (Bushton); his spouse Winlon Jones; his son Michael Howard; and his son-in-law Raymond Mickens.
He is survived by: his children, Sharon Howard Lockhart of Springfield, James E. Howard, Jr., Patricia Howard Smith of Columbus, Lillian Diane Howard Johnson of Durham, Robin Newby Mickens of Columbus, Leonard Newby (Melinda) of Florida and Cynthia Howard Moore (Christopher) of Cleveland. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
