He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Peters and Leona Peters (Carter); his former wife Patty; his brother Larry Peters; and his stepgranddaughter Wendy.

He is survived by: his wife Dorothy; his daughters, Terri Pitsenbarger (Mark) and Julie Warren (Mike); his stepchildren, Kimberly Hamilton, Kelly Hill (Jeff) and Rick Hoyt (Julie); his granddaughters, Hyla and Sophie Pitsenbarger; his stepgrandchildren, Erica Hamilton, Eden Hamilton, Jason Hill (Ashley), Justin Hill (Gracie), Tori Barnhart (Tyler) and Travis Hoyt; and his brother Steve Peters (Cathy). He is also survived by eight step great-grandchildren.
