He is survived by: his wife Deb Burson Patton; his children, Belinda Stickle (Steve), Debbie Smith (Bill), Pam Tamplin (Chad), Stephanie Grogg (Matt), Sheryl Patton (Andy Cornwell), Jeff Patton and John Jr. Patton (Laura Osseck); his grandchildren, Ashley Welborne (Shane), Kayla Smith (Alan), Jacob Stickle, Abby, Andrew, Alex, Ashton Tamplin, Tyler, Trevor, Hannah, Haley Grogg, Mackenzie Gieszl, Jackson, Brody Patton, Evelyn and Owen Patton; his great grandchildren, Hallie and Sadie Welborne; his mother-in-law Marge Cozad; his siblings-in-law, Mark Burson (Brenda), David Burson and Sandy Patton; his sibling's children, Cheyann Conley (Craig), Melissa Vigil, Tracee Patton, Thom Willems and Jim Patton; and his pet Ozzy.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 26th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Littleton & Rue Funeral Home (830 N Limestone St, Springfield, OH 45503).

“I remember Mr. Patton as funny and disarming. He always had a wry smile for us teenagers hanging around the house. I remember how in love he was with Mrs. Patton and how much their marriage seemed like a gift they took great care of. I always saw so much adoration. And how much John looked up to and loved his dad. Brock and I are sending our love to John, Laura, Mrs. Patton, Jeff…the whole family. It is a huge loss and we are holding you in our hearts.”
