He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Whitacre and Mary Catherine Whitacre; his former wife Kathleen (Muldoon); his son Joseph Whitacre; his grandson Michael Kenney; his brother Michael; and his sister-in-law Sharon Whitacre.
He is survived by: his wife Gretchen (Grote); his daughter Laura West (Kevin); his grandchildren, Joseph Whitacre (Katie), Robert Whitacre (Erin), Rachael Retta (Matt) and Michaela Kenney (Tony); his great grandchildren, Sabrina and Luna Retta; his siblings, Christine Wissinger, Steven Whitacre (Connie) and Irene Talkers (Ralph); and his daughter-in-law Lisa Slattery. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and numerous bonus children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Saturday, November 15th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Conroy Funeral Home (1660 E High St, Springfield, OH 45505). A memorial service was held on Saturday, November 15th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
