He was predeceased by: his parents, Julius Friis and Lucille Friis (Kurtz); his significant other Carol; and his sons, James Carl Friis and John David Friis.
He is survived by: his son Mark Friis; and his daughter-in-law Gena Friis (John). He is also survived by five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
