He is survived by: his friend James Smith; his nephews, Herman Cobb, Jr. (Nathan) and Alvin Cobb; his niece Debbie Marshall; his close friends, Janice Buffington and Ona Heath; his daughters, Barbara Ann Sims of Springfield and Denise Thomas of Dayton, Ohio; his brother Alvin Higgins; his grandchildren, Tracy Shelton (James) of San Antonio, Texas, Stephanie Kay Prater (James), Candace Pitts (Raoul) of Dayton, Ohio, Shayla Sims of Springfield, Ohio, Jedidiah Piersoll (Tanya) of Columbus, Ohio, Jonathan Piersoll and R. Dwight Thomas of Springfield, Ohio; and his great grandchildren, Robert Soles, Kayla Brandon, Andre Brandon, Camari, Rontay Pitts, Brianna, Malakai Piersoll, Tamya, Malachi Piersoll and Trayson Sims.
