He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. Richard Cain and Florence Cain (Delaney); his wife Patricia A. Cain; his son Patrick Stephen Cain; and his brothers, Richard Delaney Cain, Laurence Riley Cain and Elvin W. Cain (Marjorie).
He is survived by: his children, Susan E. Sidner of Mechanicsburg and Dr. Philip J. Cain (Brenda) of Springfield, Ohio; his grandchildren, Michelle E. Kupper (Drew) of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Christine M. Funk (Josh) of Columbus, Ohio, Grace L. Coleman (Gavin) of Urbana, Grant P. McDaniel of Huntsville, Megan Neff (Bobby) of Springfield, Addie E. Vazquez (Scott) of Columbus, Sarah M. Cain of Columbus, Jack O. Cain of Lakewood and Lily R. Cain of Columbus, Ohio; his great grandchildren, Haley Neff, Owen, Liam, Emmett Kupper, Wyatt, Eloise McDaniel and Cecilia Funk; his close friends, Mary and Shane Latham; his friend Norm Nelson; and his caregivers, Sheri Burkhard, Dr. Mark Roberto, Dr. Sanju Varghese, Dr. Dave Galluch, Dr. Ian Thompson, Dr. Donald LeMelle and Dr. Joseph Kerr.
Visitation was held on Sunday, September 7th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Littleton & Rue Funeral Home and Crematory (830 N Limestone St, Springfield, OH 45503). A funeral service was held on Monday, September 8th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the St. Bernard Catholic Church (800 Lagonda Ave, Springfield, OH 45503).
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Honor Flight Dayton, Ohio in Dr. Cain's memory.
