He is survived by: his children, Nicci Gallivan (Chris), Michael Ater and Meggan Mangona; his significant other Cathy Saunders; his grandchildren, Anthony, Ryan, Zachary, Emily, Peyton, Jadan, Carmine, Bentley, Aaliyah, Jordin, Kendra and Letty; his siblings, Doug Ater and Susie McElwee (Terry); and his nieces and nephews, Angie Newman, Monica Bailey, Christina Bogard and Jamie Ater.
