He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Ross and Clemmie Cannon-Totty (Tyson); his sons, Kevin Tyson and Sherman Tyson, Jr.; his grandchildren, Devontae and De'Vion "DJ"; his brothers, Herman Tyson and Mark Batty; his son-in-law Leonard Kilgore; his aunts and uncles, Tommie Lee Rhodman, Herb Rhodman and Renny Tyson, Sr.; and his pet Spirit.

He is survived by: his fiancée Beth Cherry; his children, Yahbysuel Yzrael (Daisha) and Angela Tyson-Kilgore; the mother of his children Delores Tyson; his daughters, Stacy Upshaw-Martin (Malcolm), Danielle Upshaw (Robert), Whitney Cherry and TaMekia Rogers; his grandchildren, Dustin, Devon, Shyhiem, Imani, Acacia, JaMonyca, Alex, Akayla, Labbaron, Shan'pri, Destiny, Odessti, Malcolm Jr., Ashley, Tatyana, Ariana and Amari; his siblings, Ralph Hillman (Rita), Lloyd Batty, Elton Batty (Annie), Gail Hill, Romaine Jackson (Leroy), Karen Downton (Robert), Iris Cousey, Deborah Batty and Janice Savage (Mark); his sister-in-law Corlisa Tyson; and his aunt Lorene Tyson. He is also survived by 22 great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
