He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald LaVelle and Lesta LaVelle (Simon); and his brothers, Alan and William LaVelle. He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth LaVelle (Weaver); his daughters, Cassie LaVelle and Traci LaVelle (Jesse Webb); his grandchildren, Corwin Harris and Timothy Webb; his sister Miriam Mayse (Paul David); and his nephews, Scott LaVelle and Gerald Hartman.
