He is survived by : his wife Sheila K. Reed; his daughter Denise; his son-in-law Brian Followay of Creston; his son Terry Valentine of Sterling; his grandsons, Derryck and Cody Hartong; his sister Karen; and his brothers-in-law, Sid Simpkins of Orrville and Ray Piatt of Rittman.

Being the CSX Police officer (now retired), I spent lots of time in the tower with Denny waiting for trains to come in so I could inspect them, Denny was always very kind to me and helpful, He will be missed..
