He was predeceased by: his siblings, William, Robert, Jack, Marie, Patricia and Michael Thornton; his nieces, Gynneane, Myki and Tammy; his nephew Da'Ron Thornton; and his son Jan Michael Thornton.
He is survived by: his wife Karen Thornton; his children, Pamela Mallory and Michael Swank; and his sisters, Barbara Nelson and Jenny Smoot.
