He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilber Hager and Sarah Hager (Powell); his siblings, Richard Hager and Nancy Riley; and his granddaughter Jessica.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Hager (Yost); his children, John R. Hager (Lynne) of Weirton, WV, Mark S. Hager of Follansbee, WV and Karen Hager of Follansbee, WV; his sister Patricia Hemmingway of Florida; his grandchildren, Amanda, Mike, Stephanie and Nadine; and his great grandchildren, Caitlyn, Braden, Brice, Aubrey, Colt, Brody, Adonis and Hassan.
