He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Cortez (Mitchell); his former wife Debbie Phillippi; his son John Cortez (Amy); his grandchildren, Ariel Cortez, Jordan Quinn, Zackary Burch and Jonathan Cortez; his brothers-in-law, Michael Mitchell (Katie) and Ted Mitchell; his nieces, Kylie and Maliea Mitchell; his brother David Cortez (Marilyn); his nephew David Cortez; and his favorite shorkie Rascal.

Visitation was held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel (4435 Sunset Blvd, Steubenville, OH 43952). A funeral service was held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
