He was predeceased by: his parents, Hulan Hedrick and Pansy Hedrick. He is survived by: his wife Elaine (Ahrens); his children, Donna Montgomery (Todd), Denise Whisman (Rupe), Diane Kruger (Scot) and Dale Hedrick (Teresa); his brothers, James (Audrey) and Hulan Hedrick (Patricia); and his brother-in-law Donald Ahrens (Carol). He is also survived by eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Stephen Lutheran Church or the Wounded Warrior Project.
