He is survived by: his wife Ann; his children, Sharon Bergman (Aaron), Brian Layman (Whitney), Carolyn Hall (Michael) and Kevin Layman (Tazha); his stepchildren, Lisa Sanders (Michael), Alana Carey (Andrew) and Martin Marino (Heather); and his siblings, Michael, David, Melissa and Julia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Carl's honor to the University of Akron School of Law.
