He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Franta and Margie Franta (Harland); his brother Mark; and his sister-in-law Teri (Timothy). He is survived by: his former wife Elizabeth "Betty" Franta; his children, Denise Franta (Yancarlo) of Oak Park, IL, David Franta (Jenny) of Cincinnati, OH and John of Greensboro, NC; his siblings, Phillip (Myriam) of Columbus, OH, Timothy of Canton, OH and Diane Kabatek of Colorado Springs, CO; and his sister-in-law Barb (late Mark). He is also survived by six grandchildren and several nephews and niece.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Parks Foundation.
