Ray Mathews Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Ray Mathews (Tiffin, Ohio), who passed away on January 10, 2019 at the age of 87. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Dorsey Mathews and Regina Mathews (Miller); his stepmother Irene Matthews; his daughter Beverly Baker; his siblings, Lloyd Matthews, Richard Matthews, Beverly Hoover, Norma McDonald and Cheryl Matthews; and his stepsiblings, William Snyder, Chester Snyder, Dorothy Hill, Pauline Dewald, Donna Jean Saxion and Betty Kerr.

He is survived by: his spouse Virginia Elchert (Hunt); his children, Bill Elchert (Deb), John Elchert (Michelle), Bonnie Aiello (Louie) and Roberta Elchert; his sisters, Mary Ann Folk Forstner, Alice Tuttle and Susan Gibson; and his stepsiblings, Percy Snyder, Donald Snyder, Arnold Snyder and Barb Shafer. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 14 great, great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
