It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Susan Emeline Payne of Tiffin, Ohio, who passed away on February 18, 2026, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Frederick Zeis and Imogen Zeis; her husband Jack H. Payne; her son Christopher M. Payne; her brother Lock Zeis; and her sister-in-law Mary Jane Zeis.
She is survived by: her son John L. Payne (Melissa Crohen); her grandsons, Jacob Lockwood Payne and Benjamin Crohen Payne; her sister-in-law Terris Payne of Gypsum, Ohio; and her nieces and nephews, Paul Zeis (Sharon), William Payne, Daniel Payne, Angie Dale (Michael), Diane Stein (Jim), Cathy Holz (Dick) and Sara Marquis (Ted).
Memorial contributions may be made to Old Trinity Episcopal Church in Tiffin, the Tiffin University Orville D. & Irma Yoder Payne Memorial Scholarship, or the Tiffin-Seneca Library Foundation.
