He was predeceased by: his wife Mary; his parents, Paul C Smith and Bertha Mae Smith; his siblings, Edwin Smith, Richard Smith, Carole Temple, Suzanne Hornbeck and Jacqueline Smith; his nephews, Ed Smith Jr., Steven Temple, Thomas Mullins and Jeff Lindsey; and his niece Vicki Bormes.

He is survived by: his siblings, Zola Jayne Schnelle, Norman Smith and Gary Smith; and his nieces and nephews, Allen Smith, Mike Temple, Dan Mullins, Jon Mullins, Patrick Baldwin, Kevin Hartman, Rusty Smith, Brian Smith, Valerie Berry, Linda Rundlett, Autumn Shepard, Julie Mullins and Angela Dettrick.
