He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Platfoot and Wilma Platfoot (Boeke); his sister Betty Harshbarger; and his brothers-in-law, Roy Lea, Terry Billing and Doug Bisher.

He is survived by: his wife Angela A. Platfoot (Grieshop); his daughter Andrea Dexter (Wade) of Troy; his grandchildren, Noelle Earhart (Luke), Grace, Eva, Luke, Lauren, Lindsey, Jenna Dexter and Olivia; and his siblings, Phyllis Lea of Canton, GA, John Platfoot (Rosie) of Kingston, TN, Diane Billing of Anna, Connie Bisher of Springfield, Duane Platfoot of Anna, Sharon Staley (Rick) of Tipp City, Richard Platfoot (Joyce) of Botkins and Steve Platfoot of Botkins.
